Welcome to The Bathroom Planner Website.  We’ll make it through this together!!

If you browse through the articles (bottom right), you’ll see several tips on planning the perfect bathroom.  We know you are excited, but don’t forget these five basic rules of bathroom planning.

1.  Always have a budget.  I know, we all hate to think about it, but you have to draw the line somewhere.  Whether your budget is $1000 or $100,000 – set a limit and stick to it.   There is no sense adding at $200,000 bathroom to a $100,000 house!  (although it would probably be nice)

2.  Decide what you want and write it down.  Every detail, every fixture.  Once things get rolling, it is easy to forget the small things.

3.  Unless you are skilled in this type of work, you need to hire a professional.  Sure, it will cost more – but it will probably be worth it.  Someone who does this every day will be much more likely to anticipate problems in the design and offer smart solutions.

4.  Choose your contractor carefully.  Please, please, please don’t just hire the first guy you find on the internet.  Talk to your friends and neighbors and gather recommendations, then meet with a few of them.  Remember, you will be working closely with this person for a few weeks or so.  If their personality just isn’t a good match with yours, it will be grueling.  Trust me on this one.

5.  Hold back a little bit of the budget for accessories.  I promise you, after doing a $10,000 bathroom renovation, your old floormats are probably going to look really shabby to you.  Plan accordingly!!!

From there, its just a matter of setting the plan in motion.  Remember, the more planning work you do at the beginning, the more smoothly your project will go later.

Now sit down and plan that bathroom!

Good luck!
